I am posting a little later than promised (a day to be exact), but with the holiday weekend, all of the unpacking, and our crazy day waiting for the doctor, we got a little swamped. Our original doctor appointment was at 9:45 yesterday morning, but our doctor was called out to deliver a baby and so we waited until 12 pm to finally see her (thankfully not IN the waiting room). Although painful and a true test of my patience, it was SO worth the wait because our little bun was extremely active and gave us a nice glimpse of HIS special place ;) That's right, we will be registering for BLUE sheets now because we're having a BOY! So to every single person who guessed a girl, except maybe 2....you were wrong. Our little boy fooled everyone! Lee was even convinced we were having a girl b/c my instincts were so strong...so much for that.
I will NEVER ever forget the moment that we saw his little "package" on the monitor yesterday and then the look on Lee's face. Total shock and excitement....it was priceless. When we left the doctor's office he said very loudly "YES, YES, YES". So although I'll be the only female in my house now with 2 boy dogs, a husband, and now a baby boy, I am extremely thrilled. We of course would have been happy no matter what, but the world will now just have to wait for baby girl Reinis :)

Belly!
Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I probably won't be blogging, I decided to post my belly picture a day early. I can't tell if there's any difference from last week, but I'm definitely FEELING bigger. My back is already starting to hurt, although that could just be from moving over the weekend.
I still haven't felt any flutters of movement like people said I might, but I'm hoping. Maybe it'll be a Thanksgiving day treat :)
Lee and I slept at our new place for the first time last night and it was really comfortable, at least in the bed. We can barely walk around with all the boxes, but at least it's cozy. Hopefully the dogs are adjusting today and Rocky isn't barking too much and pissing off the neighbors! Tomorrow we're spending Thanksgiving at Lee's parents house which should be fun. Lee's Nana and I are making pumpkin pies with chocolate candy crust tonight so you KNOW that our Thanksgiving will be a tasty one. It will be my first one "eating for two" so I'm VERY excited. Extra pie for me!! Wow, I guess I really do like eating lately...ha!
Saturday is our big 2nd trimester appointment with the doctor and as long as the little bun cooperates we SHOULD be able to find out the sex. Any guesses from anyone now on what it will be? I will post something here soon after our appointment, so make sure to check back if you're interested. I'll either post something in pink or blue :)
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!!

Are you gonna eat that?
Today starts my 18th week of being pregnant - WOW! I can't believe it...part of me(the biggest part) is in total disbelief, especially since I've been feeling better in my second trimester. No morning sickness or being incredibly lethargic anymore as a constant reminder that I'm growing a human inside of me. However, now I have a growing belly, HUGE boobs, and an appetite like a teenage boy. In fact, one of the guys at work was walking by my office the other day while I was eating some chocolate cake and said "every time I see you lately, you're eating!!". Well, he's pretty much right on. I can't last more than 3 hours without needing to eat something. My normal snacks include string cheese, cubed cheese, yogurt, and more cheese. Yep, I am more of a cheese lover than ever before and only wish I could have the double cream brie from Trader Joes that my friend Laura was telling me about over the weekend. I have also been obsessed with subway subs, but haven't been eating TOO many because I hear that you have to be careful with cold cuts. Does anyone know if that's true? I have a turkey sub about once a week with extra cheese, extra pickles, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and avocado. Today at subway I ordered a juice box with my sandwich and the cashier looked at me a little funny. I am probably the only person over 10 who orders the "fruit punch" juice box. Hey, my baby NEEDS the fruit!! It did say 100% juice :)
I haven't had many other cravings, but I have been drinking root beer a ton and eating a few things that weren't in my every day or week diet before getting preggers (like potato chips and red meat). Shockingly, besides my belly and my hips, my pants haven't felt that tight in other places (like the rear) so I think I'm doing pretty well. I've gained 10 lbs. so far (mostly in the bosom area) and have had fun doing it, all while being healthy for my baby. ***I do eat a huge amount of fruits and veggies!***
So to all of my pregnant friends and one in particular (no names, but you know who you are)....eat the chocolate cake, your baby will be happy, I promise!!
Ok, off to think about dinner....

Belly
I'm now in week 17 and it's Thursday which has now come to mean a belly picture! I'm feeling really great this week, except that I'm overly emotional. The nausea and food aversions are gone though which is delightful so I'm back to eating almost all of my normal foods. My jeans are getting tighter by the day, but I will continue to wear most of them with a rubber band holding the button together. I have 1 pair of "work" pants that fit me, but many many dresses so I'll have to bust those out of the closet soon enough.
Normally I'm a very light sleeper, but the past few weeks I've been even lighter than usual and find myself tossing and turning alot. I've read that this is normal, but thank God I have more energy these days or that light sleeping would kill me.
Mondays have officially become "pass out on the couch at 7:30" nights. I think I've passed out on the couch every single Monday for the past 3 months :) I have the best husband in the world because he usually does the dishes, turns off all the lights & tv, and gets me up to go to bed around 10:30/11.
On Saturday we're moving so I'll probably DEAD tired for the next week! Take-out and starbucks will be my best friends :)
Here's a pic of the bun!

A song for our baby
So Lee and I have both heard and read that if you sing your baby a song while in the womb, it will recognize that song and be soothed by it when it's born (how cute). The only problem is that I CANNOT come up with a song that I actually sound ok singing. See, I did NOT take after my dad in the good voice gene department so every song that I come up with and try to sing sounds like a dying cat. I need help! If anyone can come up with a song for Lee & I to sing to our new little bun, PLEASE give us your suggestions. You can leave a message here on the blog, send me a post or message through facebook, email me, or call. It needs to be somewhat baby appropriate, but not a kid song. If anyone is wondering, yes I have thought of a Bon Jovi song (I'll be there for you), but Lee and I sang it in the car on Saturday night and it was scary!! Needs to be something that won't make our baby cry when we sing - ha. Can't wait for some suggestions, thanks!

Belly!
It's been a week since I posted the last belly pic, so I thought I'd do another one. Do you see any difference? It gets a little bigger every week...funny how that happens ;)
This is week 16 for me and I have read that starting now, I can potentially feel the baby move a little. From what I've read, it feels like a gas bubble (fun!) or a little flutter, so I'm waiting anxiously to feel something in the coming weeks. On Monday I will start my 17th week and have an appointment to get my blood drawn for a variety of tests. Then on Nov. 29th we see the Dr. again for an ultrasound and HOPEFULLY to learn the sex of the baby!! Now that I'm feeling better, this is all so exciting ;)
Update from last post: I got a mouth guard at Wallgreens..thought I would try out 1 more store bought before asking my dentist to order one and it actually works. The last 2 mornings I've woken up without a headache or any jaw pain. The name of the brand is called Sleep Right if anyone is interested: http://www.amazon.com/SleepRight-Standard-Select-Original-Flavor/dp/B000EJPL0Q

My new cuddle companion
Not that I could ever replace the 2 best things EVER to sleep with (Lee & Rocky), but I have added two extra pillows to my bed and the list of my cuddle companions. I read in my book Your Pregnancy Week by Week that from now on I shouldn't be sleeping on my back or even laying on my back when relaxing because it could be harmful to the little bun. This has proven MUCH harder for me than I realized it would because I'm a total, 90% back sleeper. Over the weekend I tried to just "remember" not to sleep on my back while I was actually sleeping, but that didn't go so well. So starting on Sunday night I slept with Lee on one side of me (close enough so I can't roll to my back) and 2 pillows on the other side of me (close enough so I can only roll on them) and then Rocky in the middle of it all somewhere :) I have to say...it's been quite comfortable!
The next thing that I have to conquer is the frequency and intensity that I clench my jaw when sleeping. I finally realized this morning that it's the cause of my horrible headaches. Looks like I'm going to have to invest in a mouth guard after all. Then maybe when I fall asleep on the couch at 8pm (last night again), it won't be so brutal when I wake up at 11pm and go into bed. Ah, the life of a pregnant woman!! :)

Belly Picture!
I took this picture this morning at work with my cell phone camera. Not sure if you can actually see my little bump, but for me it's pretty significant. It kinda popped out this week.

What a night......WOW!
Yiiiiiiiiiiiippppppppppppeeeeee!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!! A-mazing, Incredible, Historic!!! Last night was completely and utterly unforgettable. I knew that I was witnessing history when MSNBC announced the name of our 44th elected president...Barack Obama!! I know that someday in the future, I will be able to tell the little baby inside of me where I was the moment they announced the results from the 2008 presidential election. Now when my child asks me "who was president when I was born?", I can say proudly and triumphantly "Barack Obama". There are not words to express what this means for our country and for the world. All I can say is that NOW I feel proud and hopeful to bring a child into this world next year. AMEN!
