We had a doctor's appointment last Wednesday and the doc told me to lay on my left side as often as possible to promote better circulation. She said that the weight of the baby is pushing on major arteries which make circulation a bit more difficult. Laying on the left side (side of the heart) alleviates the pressure and lets blood flow more easily. She suggested walking around after about 20 minutes of laying down so that the water will absorb back into the body. This has proven more difficult for me than the laying down part of this exercise :)
If you're preggers and you are experiencing swelling, definitely call your doctor and just make sure that your blood pressure is checked. Major swelling (like gaining 12 lbs in a week) and aches all over your body can be a sign of pre-eclampsia which is hypertension in pregnant women and can be a danger. Not that it's common, but we should all be cautious and safe.
Here are pics at 7 months!
